Plastic is sometimes a magnet for bacteria that works its way into scratches and nicks then reinfects your pet or other pets in the household and causes outbreaks of "chin acne". This can also be an allergic reaction to plastic. Most veterinarians recommend that pets be fed from glass, ceramic or good stainless steel.
